Converse Sneakers

Popularity:

Converse sneakers are known to be ageless classics. But the difference is that now, guys aren't the only ones wearing 'em. Girls have found a way to bring out their girl-next-door and laid back comfortable aura with Converses. These shoes come in low and high tops. I usually recommend wearing low tops for jeans and high tops for everything else to show off the entire shoe. Also, it's sometimes awkward and bulky with extra stuff tucked under your jeans.

Wear them with a dress...if you dare ;)

Flats

Popularity:

Flats have been in for a while now. Maybe even since 2008 but it was definitely flaming in 2009. It's sorta cooling down in 2010 but it's still very nice to wear every now and then, obsessed or not. Flats come in so many varieties and styles, it's impossible to commonly characterize flats as anything other than the shoes with no heels. I personally never got into flats (probably because I'm short enough already) so I may be a total dud on this area but here goes anyways...

Moccasins

Popularity:

I'll be honest here and say I'm not too big of a fan of these. Moccasins became popular for a while now. I have no idea when its existence came about so I'll just put it in the 2009 file. Moccasins come in flats or boots. These can be worn with jeans tucked in or with a cute skirt.

Plaid Shirts

Popularity (as of November, 2010):

Probably starting around late 2009 and early 2010, cotton plaid shirts came in style. Depending on the design, it either gave an outfit a country feel or a daring rocker edge. These shirts usually go with a pair of jeans or maybe even tucked in a skirt. They stand pretty well by themselves, especially if it's in a bold color, so there's not too much to say in the various ways to dress them up.

Off the Shelves:

How to wear 'em:
1. Design with small boxes and calmer colors for a country girl look. A little something something can also be like a thin belt on the outside of the shirt.
2. Wear them loud and proud with large boxes and colors like turquoise, purple, and red.

Waistcoat

Popularity:

A waistcoat, or sometimes called a vest, was a big trend in 2009. It has slowly faded now but wearing it every now and then is still very fashionable.

Off the Shelves:

How to wear 'em:
1. White shirt inside for a business feel. Go for a loosely tied tie if you want a boyish charm.

2. Wear a graphic shirt inside for some fun to the waistcoat's serious nature.

3. Wear a blouse or decorative top inside to spice it up.

4. Wear a tank top or cami with the waistcoat open. Add some jewelry to dress it up.
